What are eSafety Checks - Pink Slips in NSW?

To comply with New South Wales regulations for registration renewal, vehicles over five years old must undergo a safety inspection, formerly known as a Pink Slip Inspection and now referred to as an eSafety Check. This inspection verifies that the vehicle is safe to operate on the road and meets NSW safety standards. As part of the registration renewal process, a report is issued after the inspection, which is now electronically sent to the RTA by Inner West Service Centre.

Inner West Service Centre, an Authorised Inspection Station, regularly undertake eSafety Check inspections on cars and light commercial vehicles under 4.5 tonnes (tare) in and around the Lewisham area.

Why choose Inner West Service Centre for my eSafety Check?

All work carried out by Inner West Service Centre is backed by the Repco Authorised Service Nationwide Warranty at over 450 locations Australia wide. You can rest assured that if you choose to have Inner West Service Centre conduct the needed repairs all work will meet RMS requirements.

What happens after the inspection?

Following a successful Pink Slip / eSafetyCheck inspection, Inner West Service Centre will forward your Light Vehicle Safety Check Inspection Report electronically to Roads & Maritime Services.

Failed eSafety check?

Should your vehicle happen to fail a Pink Slip / eSafety Check Inspection, Inner West Service Centre will prepare a 'repairs needed report'. You can then request Inner West Service Centre to undertake the required repairs or take it to a mechanic of your choosing to have them carried out, but they must be undertaken within 14 days, before the report expires.

Once repairs have been carried out, either by Inner West Service Centre or the workshop you chose for repairs, you'll need to have another eSafety check.

If you return the vehicle to Inner West Service Centre within 14 days for the 2nd eSafety Check, no additional fees will apply to have it rechecked. You are of course free to take the vehicle to any eSafety Check station, but this will result in you being charged a new eSafety Check fee by the mechanic conducting the vehicle inspection.
